Heidi Bergseteren, the principal photographer and owner of The Black & White Studio, moved to Santa Barbara, California, from her native Norway to pursue a career in photography.

After graduating from Brooks Institute of Photography with a major in Illustration/Advertising, she spent several years refining her skills in graphic design and pre-production as well.

Ms. Bergseteren is fluent in all major graphic design software applications and routinely designs brochures, business cards, logos and posters. Ms. Bergseteren has extensive experience shooting with all camera formats. Presently she prefers working with Canon Eos systems for 135mm applications, and uses a Hasselblad for most portraiture and wedding events. A Toyo View C 4 x 5 camera is her choice for applications that require a larger format.

During weddings she works closely with an assistant. She has worked with a diverse range of clientele, from children's portraiture, wedding parties, and actor's headshots to architectural images and fashion. As the company name suggests, The Black & White Studio specializes in black and white photography, producing images that represent simplicity, purity and timeless beauty.

Nevertheless, color photography makes up at least half of all jobs performed. The Black & White Studio shoots on both location and in studio. Operating hours are by appointment and are extremely flexible so as to meet the client's need in terms of time schedule and location.
